Your host for this enchanting journey is none other than Captain James “Scotty” Boyd. With a lifetime spent navigating the waters, Captain Scotty brings a wealth of experience and a touch of magic to every tour.
For the past seven years, Captain Scotty has been a familiar and friendly face on the serene waters of Lake Champlain’s Inner Sea. His deep knowledge of the lake’s history, wildlife, hidden gems and fun facts ensures that every tour is both informative and delightful.
Before making Vermont his home, Captain Boyd enjoyed a successful career in the entertainment industry. As a professional actor, he graced both stage and screen, captivating audiences with his performances. Transitioning behind the camera, he showcased his creative talents in film and television, eventually earning an EMMY® nomination as an Executive Producer. Captain Scotty even owned his own television production studio, where he brought countless stories to life.
When not on the water, which is seldom, Captain Scotty enjoys spending time with his family and Island friends. He can often be seen helping out his friend every Saturday at Arbor Farm Market, serving fresh pastries and organic fruits and vegetables, but mostly catching up on island gossip with the Saturday morning “regulars”. Fishing, swimming, golf and theater round out his off-duty activities, but if you ask him, he’ll just say, “I’m just enjoying life on this Vermont Island paradise!”
And yes, “Captain Scotty” is from Scotland and an expert on the Loch Ness Monster. Expect that he will enlist you and your crew as official Lake Champlain monster spotters in his never-ending quest to prove they exist!
